Heathcote returns to haunt the Riverside

The Rams made one change from Saturday’s 3-3 draw against Clitheroe with new arrival Kyle Jacobs coming in for his debut in place of Tom Brooks.

Trafford had the first chance of the game on six minutes when Joseph Thompson was clean through on goal but linesman Jack Slater ruled him offside.

Rammy’s first chance came from Nathan Brown on ten minutes his free kick was easily claimed by Trafford keeper Cooper. Jerome Wright’s cross five minutes later was cleared away by Keil O’Brien

Trafford’s best opening of the half came on the half hour mark when an effort was cleared by a combinatio­n of Sam Ashton and Jamie Rother.

Brown had a free kick in the final minutes of the half for the Rams but it the kick missed the target.

It was a great start to the second half for the Rams with two chances in four minutes. Firstly, Wright’s shot was spilled by the keeper, Brown narrowly missing out on the loose ball as he looked to capitalise. Two minutes later Nathan crossed for Wright but his header went wide.

Nine minutes into the second half, Trafford took the lead through former Ram Heathcote as he nodded home from a corner.

The Rams best opportunit­y to level arrived in the 65th minute when Tom Kennedy’s free kick was blocked by the Trafford keeper, the ball rebounded off the stopped and fell to Lee Gaskell but his shot was saved.
