MR Graham Paul Kew Smith, of Newchurch Road, Stackstead­s, died on Sunday, October 14, at Royal Blackburn Hospital, aged 73.

Graham owned his own printing business for many years in Burnley before moving it to Stackstead­s four years ago. He retired due to ill health earlier this year.

In his spare time he enjoyed photograph­y, bird watching, walking, steam trains and he loved holidays in Scotland.

Graham had a keen interest in nature and loved to watch all TV programmes about wildlife.

Partner of Hazel, he was father to Philip, grandad to James, brother of Peter, father-in-law to Alexandra, and brotherin-law to Valerie and Pauline.

A celebratio­n of life service was conducted by Mr David Ireland at Burnley Crematoriu­m on Wednesday, October 24.

Donations are requested to Rossendale Hospice or Macmillan Cancer Support.

MICHAEL YELLAND

DR Michael Yelland, of Ashworth Lane, Waterfoot, died at Highfield Hall Care Home, Haslingden, on Monday, October 15, aged 79.

Michael was a retired ICI research chemist and biology teacher.

He enjoyed jazz and as a young man he was interested in cycling, hiking and weightlift­ing.

Husband to Mary Yelland, he was father to Phillip and Damian Yelland and Claire Quinn, Sarah Yelland, Charlotte Woods, Claudia Yelland, Isobel Yelland and the late Rosemarie Yelland.

He also leaves sons-inlaw Paul Quinn and Kris Woods, daughter-in-law Anita Yelland, grandchild­ren Bethany Quinn, Francis Michael Quinn, Katherine (Katie) Quinn, Eleanor Quinn, Natalia Yelland, Mia Yelland, Alanna Yelland, Oscar Michael Woods and special family friend Justine Parkhouse.

A funeral service conducted by Fr Tony McBride was held at St James the Less, Rawtenstal­l on Tuesday, October 23.

ALMA BLACKBURN

MRS Alma Elizabeth Blackburn, of Greens Lane, Helmshore, died in the Royal Blackburn Hospital on Monday, October 15, aged 93.

Alma, wife of the late Fred, leaves son Ken and his wife, and grandchild­ren Chris and Hannah.

She spent her working life as a weaver at L Whittaker and Sons in Haslingden.

Alma was a keen gardener and loved spending time tending her plants and flowers.

The funeral will take place on Monday, October 29, at 1.40pm, at Accrington Crematoriu­m, with a service led by the Reverend Stephen Brown.

DAVID WARBURTON

MR David Warburton, of Grasmere Road, Haslingden, died on Tuesday, October 16, at Royal Blackburn Hospital, aged 76.

He also enjoyed going on holiday here and abroad.

The funeral will take place on Tuesday, October 30, with service at St James Parish Church, Haslingden at 2pm, followed by interment at Haslingden Cemetery, officiated by Rev David Stephenson.
