Valley aims to put on blooming good show
●● A flower display situated near Rawtenstall’s biggest roundabout ●● BRITAIN in Bloom judges will be choosing the best of the It’s Your Neighbourhood category with a visit next week.
The judges will be visiting Rawtenstall on Tuesday, July 30, to judge individual gardens that have been entered into this year’s In Bloom.
Civic Pride Rossendale, who have worked hard to maintain the town’s gardens this year, are entering seven gardens for the judges’ appraisal.
These include the inbound layby on the spur road to the new Round the Bend on Hollian Lane, Constablee and the revived Trickett’s Memorial Ground in Waterfoot.
Gardens officer Anne Dixon said: “It’s been hard work, but we’ve all pulled together and added literally thousands of plants again this year, and the reaction from the public has been overwhelming.”
Civic Pride chairman Chris Blomerley said: “We last entered in 2017, and won four Outstanding awards, and one Thriving award, making us the most successful totally voluntary group in the North West of England.”
The award ceremony will take place later in the year in Southport, with results also announced for Haslingden and Helmshore Civic Pride, and Bacup, who have already had their entries judged. Join our coach on Sunday morning for a leisurely journey to the Lake District. Once in Cumbria, our first stop is in the charming town of Kendal.
