Revenue lift as the Rams recruit Simon

-

TONY CUNNINGHAM IN the current climate whereby football clubs at all levels (with the exception of the Premier League!) continue to battle to balance the books, Ramsbottom United have taken a major step towards increasing their revenue stream with the appointment of Simon Kenyon from Kenyon Sports Management as their new Commercial Manager.

Simon, who hails from Hesketh Bank, arrives with significant experience of Sport Business Management and has held roles at a number of clubs over the last thirteen years. He is also the Managing Director of his own sports management business.

He arrives at the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium with a remit to encourage as many local businesses as possible to become involved with the club, be it through sponsorship, advertising or enjoying the matchday experience within the dedicated lounge at the ground.

It’s been all-change at the Rams this summer, with new Club sponsors Rosebridge signing up, and with the League also welcoming new sponsorship in the form of BetVictor.

The club sees the appointment of Simon as a step forward in the aim of achieving promotion to the BetVictor Premier Division, by improving the club’s financial position and also increasing both the profile and the support for a club that last season reached the last 16 of the nationwide FA Trophy and grabbed a play-off spot in the League.

This season, under manager Chris Willcock, hopes are high for another promotion push and ultimately an even better campaign this time round.

Chairman Harry Williams, pictured with Simon Kenyon, expressed his delight at the appointment.

“It’s another step forward for the club and we welcome Simon and look forward to him being successful in attracting extra sponsorship and drumming up more interest in the town for their local club.

“Football at this level relies on the goodwill of many volunteers, but fund-raising is massively important, especially for a club with ambitions to move further up the football pyramid. To that end, I wish Simon well and hope that local businesses welcome the opportunity to become involved with him and Ramsbottom United.”

Simon also took the opportunity to comment.

“I would to thank Ramsbottom United AFC for offering me this opportunity to work with them. It’s an exciting challenge for me and one that I am looking forward too.

“I understand the importance of sponsorship to clubs, and I will be going out into the community and speaking to businesses about our sponsorship packages and will look to create long term commercial relationships to benefit both parties.

“If businesses wish to speak with me, I can be contact on 07817 767156 or commercial@ kenyonsports management.co.uk.”
