MARGARET FRANCIS

MRS Margaret Francis, of Rookery Nook Villas, Broadcloug­h, Bacup, died peacefully at Royal Blackburn Hospital on Wednesday, November 13, aged 83.

Born in Britannia, she had lived in Bacup all of her life.

Margaret was employed at E Suttone & Co Ltd in Bacup from 1952 until her retirement in 1993.

She enjoyed walking in the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, Ribble Valley and Norfolk.

She leaves her husband of 62 years, Harry, brother Donald Heyworth, sister-in-law Kathleen, brother-in-law Jack, five nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

Family flowers only please, however donations welcome in memory of Margaret to the Stroke Associatio­n.

A service will be held at the chapel of rest on Tuesday, November 26 at 12.40pm, followed by cremation at Burnley at 1.30pm, conducted by Rev David Burrow.

BRIDGET TRICKETT

MRS Bridget Trickett, known as Linda, of Haslingden Hall and Lodge Care Home, Helmshore, passed away at Royal Blackburn Hospital on Monday, November 18, aged 93.

Linda lived in Bacup and Stackstead­s all of her life until moving to Haslingden Hall and Lodge Residentia­l Care Home in January 2013.

She was married to her late husband, Herbert, who sadly passed away in January 1985.

In her younger years she worked at Maideese in Bacup and also Bacup Shoe.

She regularly attended St Mary’s RC Church, Bacup, before walking got too difficult for her.

Born on July 27, 1926 to mother Lily and father Michael Ruane, she had four brothers and two sisters and was the last survivor of all of them.

She leaves two children, daughter Linda and son David, six grandchild­ren, Sharon, Garry, Lee, Andrew, Claire and Lauren, 15 great-grandchild­ren and four great-greatgrand­children.

A Requiem Mass service will be held at St Anselms RC Church, Whitworth, on Thursday, November 28, at 10.30am, led by Fr Christophe­r McGrane, followed by burial at Bacup Cemetery at 11.30am.

Flowers welcome, donations if desired to the British Heart Foundation.

PAULINE FORD

MRS Pauline Ford, of Rossendale, passed away in Royal Blackburn Hospital on Monday, November 18, aged 79.

She worked in the Post Office for many years and Smith & Nephew in Cloughfold.

Pauline loved her garden and loved spending time with her family.

Wife of the late Brian, she leaves children Susan, Stephen and Michael, grandchild­ren Richard, Natalie, Luke and Peter and sister Christine.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 27, at 2pm at the Chapel of Rest, James St, Rawtenstal­l, led by Chaplin Tony Haworth, followed by interment at Rawtenstal­l Cemetery.

Family flowers only please, donations if desired to Alzheimer’s Society.

JOAN HENNIGAN

MRS Joan Patricia Hennigan, of Windsor Avenue, Newchurch, passed away at Royal Blackburn Hospital on Wednesday, November 13, aged 88.

Joan worked at Lambert Howarth in the shoe industry.

She enjoyed reading, listening to music and spending time with family and friends.

Wife to the late John and mother to the late Daryl, she leaves daughter Jill, grandchild­ren Andrew, Jonny, Georgia and Jennifer, greatgrand­aughter Nancey, sons-in-law Alan and Andrew and her beloved dog Oscar.

A celebratio­n of life service will be held at Burnley Crematoriu­m on Wednesday, November 27 at 3.30pm, led by Revd Penny Warner.

Family flowers only, donations if desired to Cancer Research UK.

EDNA WINSTANLEY

EDNA Winstanley died peacefully in the Regency Care Home, Bury, on Saturday, November 9, aged 94.

Edna was born in Manchester on March 11, 1925 and moved to Rossendale in 1966.

She was the mother of Jane, Tom, Philip and the late Neil.

She had eight grandchild­ren and five great-grandchild­ren.

Edna was an active member of the community in Rossendale.

She was a member of Rossendale Ladies Choir for many years, performing in two Eisteddfod­s in Llangollen with them.

She was also a member of Rossendale Civic Trust, working towards the renovation of the Weavers’ Cottage in Rawtenstal­l.

Edna worked voluntaril­y for Oxfam and Amnesty Internatio­nal for many years and made regular contributi­ons to many other charities.

She volunteere­d on some archaeolog­ical digs after her children had grown up which gave her great satisfacti­on.

Edna was a keen gardener all her life and won many awards from local garden societies.

She was also a member of Edenfield Horticultu­ral Society.

In 1987 Edna fulfilled a dream and bought a Welsh Cottage in Glyn Ceiriog, North Wales, where she lived for several happy years building a terraced garden on the hillside behind her house.

She was also active in the community there, particular­ly with the Women’s Institute.

She was very talented in sewing and quilting and made many beautiful things over the years.

She also enjoyed doing watercolou­rs in the winter when it was too dark to do her gardening.

She enjoyed watching sports on television, especially tennis and rugby.

The family send many thanks to the staff at Helmcroft Court and the Regency Care Home who looked after Edna as she became less independen­t.

EILEEN JONES

MRS Eileen Jones, of Hillcrest, Stackstead­s, died peacefully at home on Thursday, November 14, aged 75.

Born in Blackpool, she moved to Rossendale in the 1960s and was employed at J A Taylors Car Sales in Waterfoot for many years as a car valeter, her last employment being at Lambert Howarth’s in Burnley.

Eileen enjoyed shopping, watching TV and smoking.

She leaves her husband of 49 years, Bryan (Pedro), children Inman, Bryn, Adrian and Amanda, many grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren, sister Joan, niece Helen and her husband Graham and many friends.

A service will be held at the chapel of rest on Tuesday, November 26 at 9.40am, followed by cremation at Burnley at 10.30am, conducted by Peter Goulding.
