ANIGHTCLUB owner defended his security team after a woman claimed she was attacked twice by revellers on a night out.

Mum-of-two and professional model Sarah Longbottom was allegedly attacked inside and outside Revival nightclub in Rawtenstall on New Year’s Day, sustaining injuries to her eye and cheek in the latter incident.

Sarah says a man, who had been previously kicked out of the club, attacked her as she left the venue at around 4am, leaving her with a bruised cheek and a black eye.

Sarah, 36, said the incidents had left her scared to leave the house.

She said: “I don’t think I can get the emotion out at the minute, it’s hard to process. It was so fast and out of the blue. It’s disgusting, I feel afraid to go out. I’m a professional model, I rely on my looks for work. I had just secured a job as the face of

Cosmetic Couture and I was excited for 2020.

“This has set me back a bit. The doctor said the swelling will go down after 10 days so I will have to wait till then to work but I don’t feel comfortable being in front of a camera right now anyway.”

Revival owner and manager Simon KadenSmith has defended his security and made it clear that they did all they could to keep people safe on the night.

He said: “We have done our utmost to improve security at Revival, it’s something we want to get right.

“On New Year’s Eve we had more than 500 people in the venue of all ages and from all walks of life.

“We know that Sarah had an altercation with another female in the club. We don’t condone violence at all. Our bouncers immediately dealt with the situation and the female in question was asked to leave. Sarah then got on with her night with no other problems.

“We are also aware that we had to ask a man to leave, he was being too forward with some of the girls and making a lot of them feel uncomfortable. Later he was outside the club with a plank of wood and our security removed it from him. We had no other problems on the night.”

Sarah has since reported the attack to Lancashire police, and is keen for her attacker to be found so that he can no longer hurt anyone else.

Lancashire Police confirmed that a woman had made a report to them concerning the incident.

A spokesperson said: “A woman has reported being attacked by a man and a woman in a nightclub on Bacup Road shortly after 4am. We are currently investigating.”

If you have any information regarding the incident which occurred in the small hours of January 1, outside Revival, call Lancashire police on 101 quoting reference LC-20200101-1002.
