Attack victim had glass stuck in face
AMAN was left with shards of glass stuck in his face after being attacked in a restaurant.
The incident took place at the Fire Pit Restaurant, on New Hall Hey Road, Rawtenstall at around 1am on Sunday, February 2.
A man was left with “serious facial injuries” after being assaulted by another man with a broken glass.
Emergency services were sent to the scene.
North West Ambulance Service treated a man inside the premises for ‘significant’ cuts to his face. He had shards of glass embedded in the injuries and was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital for treatment.
Officers from Lancashire Police arrested a man outside the restaurant on suspicion of assault.
He was taken to Burnley General Hospital for treatment to bleeding hands.
He was then taken to custody where he was also arrested on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence.
The man has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: “As a result of a fight inside the premises a man had been assaulted by another man with a broken glass and had received serious facial injuries.
“Police patrols attended and were directed to a man stood outside who matched a description of the offender. It was noted that his hands were bleeding.
“The Ambulance Service attended and they gave first aid to another man in the dining area inside the premises. He had significant cuts to his face with shards of glass embedded in the injuries.”
