Turning point for Rossendale

-

NORTH PREMIER

IS this going to be the turning point of the season? Rossendale got back to the winning formula in the best possible way with a bonus 38-5 win at home to Morpeth, a result that has moved them up to nineth in

North Premier and five points above the relegation zone.

They are not ‘out of the woods’ yet but with bottom of the table Ilkley at home in the next round there should be another maximum points on offer.

In absolutely foul conditions Rossendale opened with a try from Nick Flynn, the prop driven over by a drive from the pack.

Rossendale came again in similar fashion this time forcing Danny Rylance over for a second and with a break by Lewis Allen from 40 metres out for the third, Rossendale went in at the interval 21-0 ahead with all three having been converted by Allen.

In the second period another break by Allen brought the bonus point although from the restart

Morpeth did manage to get over for their try.

However with the home side now in total control Damon Hall chipped over the top, went through, collected his own ball to scoot over for the fifth.

With time now running out Rossendale finished off a solid afternoon’s performace with a try from Harrison Moulding, the scrum half collecting his own neat kick through to go over for the sixth, Allen on hand to slot the extras.

Rossendale now take a week’s break before returning to action at home to Ilkley on Saturday 29th February kick off 2.15pm.

Of the seven games remaining before the end of the season Rossendale are at home for four all of which are eminently winnable.
