Young voices sing hearts out

-

MORE than 170 children sang alongside Valley opera star Sean Ruane in the Hearts & Voices concert organised by Chant Productions, the 2nd Rossendale Scout band and Rossendale Hospice.

Among the favourites performed by eight schools from across Rossendale were Circle of Life from the hit film The Lion King and Teddy Bears Picnic.

This year’s event was the sixth concert held at Blackburn Cathedral, raising more than £3,700 on Valentine’s Day.

Joanna Williams, fundraiser at Rossendale Hospice, said: “When I heard the children rehearsing before the concert started I just knew it was going to be a great night. They sounded amazing.

“I was also overwhelmed at how fantastic the high school children were when they performed their solos. The confidence they gain from this is priceless.”

Sean, from Bacup, visited and provided tuition to each choir in preparation for the concert which saw 250 guests attend.

He worked alongside Graham Helm and the band to put the music together.

Joanna added: “We are extremely grateful for the support our local schools and their families offer us but also to the sponsors of the event – Musbury Fabrics, Winfields, Fred Hamer Funeral Services, Tony Quinn Accountants and Professional

Remediation for their financial contributions.”

She also said special thanks go to Jade Schofield, Shooters

Media, Lite Alternative, Geoff Senior, AJM Photography, HD Signs and volunteers who helped on the night.
