QUIET relief’ as £9.4m Spinning Point phase 2 revamp scrapped (February 21):
Vanessa Bedford: It’s about time that a few million was invested elsewhere in the valley - Haslingden for example. I lived in Hassy for 17 years and had to get out a couple years ago. You work hard, pay your taxes you don’t deserve to live in decaying towns.
Pennie Cowley: Wouldn’t it be lovely if we had a blank cheque and could fix all Rossendale’s problems in one go. Personally I’m very glad I don’t have to decide where the money we DO have is spent, much better to sit back a criticise those who do
Abdul Sattar Khan: Having achieved what they set out to do and by their own admission “Rawtenstall doesn’t need anything else” perhaps attention can now be diverted to Haslingden? Rawtenstall may well have ‘bucked the trend’ but Haslingden is fast becoming a slum town. The Council has an obligation to the whole of Rossendale - not just Bank and Kay Street
Gary Cunliffe: So does this mean RBC and the Labour councillors will now look at investing in Whitworth rather than forcing more housing on us I wonder. After the CCTV farce and the outright refusal of investment from RBC I somehow doubt it.
Aliz Teague: Meanwhile at Edenfield we really need some more dog bins, life exists beyond Rawtenstall. And please don’t say you don’t have any in stock... I noticed a few new ones have been located around the bus station along with those grand garden troughs.
