Still time to take place on starting line

-

TRIATHLON GRAEME COURTNEY ENTRIES for the Rossendale Triathlon on Sunday 24th May 2020 are coming in thick and fast but there’s still time to enter.

You can enter either as a solo competitor or as a relay team, an ideal way to complete a triathlon if you’re not experienced in one of the disciplines.

The triathlon consists of a 400 metre swim (16 lengths) in Marl Pits pool, a 21 km bike ride in the undulating Rossendale countryside and a 5 km multi lap run around Marl Pits to finish.

Entries cost £40 for solo entries and £45 for relay teams.

You can enter online at the British Triathlon website, follow the link which can be found on the Tri clubs webpage www. rossendale triathlonclub.com

In preparation for the Rossendale Triathlon, club members braved the elements at two races recently. Geoff Chiu braved the fierce winds on the North Wales coast to complete the Coastal 10 miler at Prestatyn in just over 1 1/2 hours.

Whilst membership secretary Andy

Kellar, Jan Harwood, Ian Connolly and Quin Beech completed the Canalthon, a 20 mile out and back run along the towpath of the Rochdale canal.

Fresh from Ironman Wales last year, Quin picked up a top ten finish and placed first in his age group with a time of 2 hours 39 minutes, a great start to the season.

If you’d like to join the club or want more information visit the club’s website or come down to the run or swim sessions which are held every Thursday evening from 6pm at Marl Pits sports centre on Newchurch Road, Rawtenstall.

The club welcomes all abilities.
