New owners for Rossendale’s premier Timber Merchants

Established back in 1882, for almost 140 years, James Ashworth ‘Waterfoot’ , of Bacup Road, Rossendale, has supplied timber based products to the local community, with a passion for quality and reliability. The Ashworth family have owned the company since 1956, building the business into a successful Timber Merchants, which has become a household name in the Rossendale area. After more than 50 years at the helm of this local company, current owner, Mr Charles Ashworth and co-owner Lynne Ashworth, have decided to retire, and take a well-earned rest. They are proud to be passing on this ‘family run’ tradition to the new ownership of North West Timber Treatments Ltd. North West Timber Treatments Ltd, is a long established family run business, and is pleased to announce the acquisition of the Rossendale area’s oldest, independent timber merchant, James Ashworth Waterfoot (Successors) Ltd., at Warth Sawmills.
Everyone at NWTT would like to wish both Charles and Lynne a very long and happy retirement!
Like James Ashworth Waterfoot, NWTT has a long family history in the Timber trade, and with the leadership of Managing Director Roger Mayor, they have built up an enviable reputation for supplying top quality products, excellent customer service with reliable, down to earth family values, and are excited to add a fifth branch to their thriving company.
Headquartered in Wigan, with depots also in St. Helens, Walkden and Skelmersdale, North West Timber Treatments Ltd manufactures and delivers a wide range of timber, fencing, joinery, aggregates and many other building and DIY products all over the North West, and are looking forward to expanding the business further, to include James Aswhorth Waterfoot into the NWTT brand.
Moving forward, along with the selection of traditional Timber products already available at the Rossendale branch, the aim is build both staff numbers and the choice of goods and services available at the new ‘ NWTT Waterfoot’ depot, with plans to stock Aggregates, Concrete Posts, Patio Flags, Artificial Grass and Sundries, and a full range of Plastic products, in line with the other depots.
NWTT is proud to supply everyone from the domestic DIY enthusiast, to local authorities, contractors and tradesmen alike, whilst striving to keep highly competitive prices for all customers. Expert staff are always on hand to help with any enquiries, and will help you choose the perfect products for your garden, fencing or building project.
