Minnie’s marvel cheers up estate

AFOUR-YEAROLD’S huge rainbow positivity board is helping to keep her community’s spirits high.

More than 50 wellwishers have signed the colourful artwork, which was put together by Eleanor Driver and daughter Minnie Driver-Harris, of Oak Avenue, Rising Bridge.

St John’s Stonefold pupil Minnie persuaded her neighbours to let her fix the sign to their fence and it has attracted plenty of upbeat comments from passers-by on their daily walks.

Eleanor, who works at The Inside Story shop in Rawtenstall, said: “If anyone is walking past Minnie would love if it you could write your name or a message on her board. We may not be able to physically come together as a community, but we can all come together to write a little positive message for all passers by, to hopefully put a smile on everyone’s face!”

They have provided hand sanitiser for people to wash their hands and pens, but people are encouraged to bring their own.

We want to know about your acts of kindness - large or small - whether it be a window display thanking the NHS, or errands performed for an elderly neighbour that are making a difference to someone during the crisis.

Hilary Fairclough shared her birthday cake with the Bacup bin crew to say thank you to them.

Larissa Wilson, nine, has made a sign and posted it on a tree outside her house thanking all the key workers. Natalie Maxwell, of Rawtenstall, has put out a cardboard box full of gloves for key workers to help themselves, Lynn Holland is leaving boxes of books, magazines and craft stuff for people to take for free on their lane, Zo Derby, of Edgeside, has planted a rainbow flag for keyworkers, Rosalie Burnetts, five, has made a ‘Be Safe’ picture, Rebecca Pilling and Emelia, Archie and Elsie are giving away hand colourfully decorated rocks with uplifting slogans, Woodleigh House in Waterfoot - a care home for 12 adults with learning difficulties - has started up creative activities including singalong messages to loved ones, and a shop with items for sale, including stock auditing and reordering online being completed by service users.

Meanwhile house windows and gardens have been brightly decorated in support of the NHS all over the Valley - including by Kayleigh M Taylor, Holly Zebrowski, Sharney Royle, Laura Kershaw and daughter Hollie, Natalie McCall, Colette Emery, Tanya Lowe, Nicola Cadden-Kay and Florrie, and all their families.
