GREATER Manchester Police forced to apologise after man threatened with spray as he dropped food off (Facebook):

Sessions Liam: In the current situation the pressure is geting to everyone. The police are dealing with new laws thrown at them day after day.

Yes the police officer might have been unprofessional in the arrest but as this article says the the male refused to give his details to the officer. Why didn’t the male just comply with the officer than put a complaint in after it?

Phil Renwick: If you have nothing to hide, what was his problem?

Mike McGrane: Guilty until you prove your innocence isn’t how the law works!

HEAD of Science Andrew King under a huge rainbow on the windows of the Sixth Form building at Haslingden High School (April 10):

HEARING for Sharneyford traveller site postponed (April 3):

Graham Lowthion: The residents around there will love RBC if this gets the green light.

Luke Howarth: Top of Todmorden Road, this should definitely not be given the go ahead!

Ian Coyf Wagstaff: Should be used for people to ride bikes, not for travellers Chris Howarth Tooter: Quarry is the proposed site at the Top of Todmorden Road. It’s the place that floods, has a hundred foot unprotected quarry face and a 60mph road with cars and lorries that exceed the speed limit daily. Hardly a place to put young families. Deep water and young children do not mix. The site sits at an altitude of 1300 ft and is a harsh environment for young families in caravans. In short, all the Council’s planning guidance and the Department of Communities and Local Government’s policies say that this site is inappropriate but, to save the Council’s reputation, some councillors are pushing this site against all logic. This site will have a massive cost implications for the residents of Rossendale both in developing it and maintaining the site once developed. I don’t believe any councillor could put his or her hand on their heart and say this is the most appropriate site to put young families in caravans.

OBITUARIES included

Ray Micklewright and Allan Seymour (April 10):

Helen Royds: Condolences to John and to Ray’s family, Ray [Micklewright] was a lovely guy x

Esther May Finnigan: R.i.p grandad (Allan Seymour) will give you the best send off we can! Love you x

Jon Lowe: Sad times.
