ASELF- EMPLOYED joiner is celebrating a life-changing £58 MILLION jackpot win.

Ryan Hoyle, 38, said he couldn’t believe his eyes as he read an e-mail from the National Lottery confirming his lucky EuroMillions windfall.

Ryan, who has an 11-year-old daughter, said he would be swapping his white works van for a new car as well as treating family and close friends.

Holidays to the waterparks of Florida and Disney, and a Manchester United season ticket, are on the horizon. The lucky £58,366,487 windfall places Ryan in 20th place on The National Lottery millionaire rich list.

Ryan normally buys EuroMillions tickets in store, but has been playing online during the coronavirus pandemic lockdown.

The National Lottery’s e-mail was titled ‘ You’ve Won’.

Ryan said he thought he had won just £2.30 at first, until he checked his second line of numbers.

“I couldn’t work out what I was looking at,” he said.

“The e-mail linked to my account looked like a lot of numbers and I thought it might be millions, but I couldn’t believe what my eyes were seeing.

“I couldn’t make sense of it and really needed to talk to someone so I called mum and dad. I was shaking and really needed a second opinion so I jumped in the van and drove round.

“I stuck to the government guidelines, kept a safe distance outside and passed the phone through the window for them to double-check. It was real. I had won £58m.

“Mum shouted out if she could retire now and I replied ‘yes’”.

Ryan said he celebrated his win at a distance with his brothers over a few cold beers in the garden later that day.

A self-employed joiner for 15 years, he said he would be finishing up a job he has been working on at the home of one of his brothers.

Ryan, from Rochdale, also hasn’t driven a car for more than five years because of his works van.

He said of his planned new wheels: “I doubt it will be a sports car or anything too flash, as that’s not me. Right now I’m not focused on spending it on myself. I’m going to see the family right as well as my closest friends.

“Mum works at the local school as a cleaner and has been struggling with a sore hip for years, so it would be great to see her take early retirement straight away.

“She was down for a hip replacement but all operations are on hold at the moment due to the coronavirus crisis, so maybe I can help with that too.

“And this win means my dad can stop working at the factory by the end of the week too. It’s also been a tough time for one of my brothers who recently suffered a brain haemorrhage. He is a digger driver and was due back at work soon, so I can help him now and it means he’s not forced to go back to work. Basically mum, dad and my brother can all retire this week.”

Ryan bought his winning ticket on www.national-lottery.co.uk. The winning EuroMillions numbers from the April 17 draw were 16, 28, 32, 37, 45 and the Lucky Stars numbers were one and 11.

The National Lottery is urging players to play online or by downloading the National Lottery app because of pandemic.
