MR John Davies, of Raven Park, Haslingden, died on Saturday, June 6 at Turfcote Nursing Home, Haslingden, aged 87.

Jack, as he was known, leaves his partner

Barbara, daughter Lisa, Barbara’s sons Andrew, Jason and Simon, nephew Duncan, and also grandson Ryan.

Jack has lived in the Haslingden and Helmshore area all his life, working as a Quarryman at Grane Road,

Haslingden for many years, Porritt and Spencer Sunnybank Mill, Helmshore, and retired from Musbury Fabrics, Helmshore.

His National Service was with the Royal Signals serving in Germany and he was a member of the

Royal British Legion, Helmshore.

In his youth he was a keen boxer and footballer, and later in life he enjoyed travelling and caravannin­g.

He had a love of animals, especially dogs and horses.

Jack was a gentleman and one of the nicest men you would ever meet.

The funeral took place on Wednesday, June 17, with service and cremation at Accrington Crematoriu­m, officiated by Philip Norris.

Donations in memory of Jack are for Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary care of the family.

HELEN GILL

MRS Helen Gill nee Burton, of Cleveland

House, Haslingden, died on Saturday, June 13, aged 72, at her home.

She leaves her husband Fred, her daughter Nicola, her brothers Kelvin and Brian, and nieces and nephews.

Helen began her working life in the slipper industry, later working for Holland’s Pies for a number of years until retirement.

The funeral will take place on Tuesday, June 23, with service and cremation at Accrington Crematoriu­m at 11.20am, officiated by Fr David

Stephenson.

MADELEINE ROBINSON

MRS Madeleine Robinson, of Bolton Road North, Edenfield passed away peacefully at home from natural causes on Sunday, June 7, aged 85.

Madeleine, a former cook at Stubbins County Primary School, spent all her life in the Stubbins and Edenfield area.

Her pastimes included being an avid knitter, she loved her jigsaws, puzzles and most of all the recent seasons of Hawaii Five-O which she must have watched every episode 20 times over, Steve McGarrett being her idol.

Wife of the late Raymond, she was mother to Andrew, Chris, Suzanne and Raymond, she absolutely adored every one of her 10 grandchild­ren and 10 great-grandchild­ren, who will all sadly miss her.

A private family funeral will be held next Friday, June 26 at Burnley Crematoriu­m at 12.15pm.
