Bacup 2040 Vision Board and sub-groups
CHAIRED by Director of Bacupbased GrowTraffic Ltd Simon Dalley, the Bacup 2040 Vision Board has representatives from groups, organisations and service providers.
More than 30 business and community representatives along with service providers including GPs, police and bus operators are on the board along with Councillors representing Bacup’s Irwell, Greensclough and Stacksteads Wards. The board acts as a critical friend informing, validating and challenging all aspects of the bid to ensure the final masterplan was a bid which had support from the wider community.
Simon said: “It was an honour to be asked to be a part of this and I am confident that I have helped to inform some decisions and facilitate conversations.
“I got involved because, working in the digital industry, I recognise the world is changing and I really believe that the built environment is so important to the way people live their lives.”
In November, board members, Councillors and officers went on a fact-finding tour of Greater Manchester, to see the plans for Urmston and the success of the regenerated market in Altrincham.
The board was established in October 2019 along with seven subgroups were formed: enterprise, place, people, vibrancy, transport, the fountain and the market traders. Even during the lockdown, meetings have been held using online Zoom technology.
A separate project team made up of council officers and consultants worked on the submission.
