INCREDIBLE EDIBLE ROSSENDALE
INCREDIBLE Edible Rossendale or IER for short has been running for about 10 years. We have had a plot up at Whitaker Park since 2011 growing herbs, fresh vegetables, fruits for people to come and pick freely and show their children food grown in a natural habitat.
Our motto is ‘ If you eat you are in’. In other words food is for everyone to share.
We want to encourage people to grow fresh vegetables for themselves where possible or join a group like ours where food can be grown, and also to buy local where possible.
With the Whitaker starting its expansion the IER has had to move and we have a new plot further down in the park with renovated planters and many refreshed plants and vegetables.
We want to show the people of Rossendale what we have done and to encourage visitors to the park during these uncertain times.
As many families with children will be unable to travel on holiday this year parks take on an extra importance as a way of involving their children in outdoor activities.
There are other amenities at the park, like tennis, outdoor bowls and huge hilly slopes for picnics and games.
