MR Colin Smith, aged 77, of Bedford Terrace, died suddenly at home on Monday, July 6.

Colin was born in Reddish, Stockport, and was a twin to the late Joyce. He lived and worked in Helmshore for most of his life. After leaving school, he worked on local farms, then Porritts & Spencer and retired from Duralay.

He spent his free time at the Bridge End and

Station Hotel pubs, where he enjoyed playing darts and pool, winning many trophies, and also working behind the bars.

Brother of the later

Beryl and Jeff, he will be sadly missed by his sister Ann, brother-in-law Ken, brother David and sister-in-law Eileen, cousin Michael and Pat, and his nieces and nephews. Thanks to all his neighbours for all their kindness and help over the years.

The funeral is at 11am on Tuesday, July 21, at Accrington Crematoriu­m with family flowers only.

MICHAEL TRICKETT

MR Michael Barry Trickett, of Newquay, Cornwall, formerly of

Son of the late Barry, he leaves mum Wendy, sister Catherine, sons Bradley and Kevin, daughter Maxine, grandsons Jack and Henri and granddaugh­ters Eimear and Isabelle.

EVA WOODRUP

MRS Eva Woodrup, nee Dearden, died following a short illness in Royal Blackburn Hospital on Tuesday, July 7, aged 90.

She lived in Stackstead­s for most of her life.

She was the widow of the late Harry Woodrup, the much-loved mother of Denis, Christine and John, and the mother-in-law of Barbara, Brian and Julie.

She also leaves her brother Frank, his wife Kitty, and her sister Hilda.

She was grandmothe­r

She had many friends who will miss her greatly.

She attended Holy Trinity Tunstead Church, was a member of Bacup Nat and a former member of Bacup Ladies Guild.

A family funeral service will be held at Burnley Crematoriu­m, to be conducted by the Rev Derek Allen.

Family flowers only please, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society, either directly or via the family.

EMILY PILLING

MRS Emily Joyce Pilling, of Swinshaw Close, Loveclough, passed away peacefully at Crawshaw Hall Nursing Home on Wednesday, July 8, with her sons by her side.

Aged 96, Joyce worked at ICI Blackley before marrying her late husband Jack in 1944. They were married for 75 years.

They had two sons,

A lifelong Christian, Joyce was a member of Rakefoot Methodist Church and during her life served on several committees and volunteere­d on the ‘Meals on Wheels’ service.

She had two younger sisters Ella and the late Marjorie, and an older brother, the late Arthur.

A full time housewife and mother, she enjoyed caravannin­g in the Lake District and was an excellent cook and family mother.

The funeral took place at Burnley Crematoriu­m on Wednesday, July 15, conducted by Rev David Burrow.

PAULINE HUGHES

MRS Pauline Hughes, of Wiswell Close, Rossendale, died on Thursday, July 9, aged 70.

She was a land charges assistant for Rossendale

LESLIE TUCK

MR Leslie Tuck, of

Burnley Road East, Water, died at the Royal Blackburn Hospital on Thursday, July 9, aged 89.

Leslie worked at Wood Heal at Lumb after leaving school, then moved to Masco at Cloughfold before working at Rossendale Combining, and then prior to retirement worked at Webron.

He enjoyed bowling, reading, gardening, crosswords and football, and was a Burnley supporter. He was a former member at St Andrew’s, and Ightenhill Bowling Clubs.

MR David Connor, of Meadow Nook Farm, Baxenden, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 9, at Royal Blackburn Hospital after a short illness, aged 79.

He leaves his wife Gertrude who he was married to for 60 years, and had sons David, Michael and the late Robert, and daughters Christine and Janet. He leaves his brother Bill, grandchild­ren Tommy, Paul, Scott, Lee, Dean,
