MR Craig Yates White, of Linden Lea, Rawtenstal­l, died on Sunday, July 12, at the family home, aged 78.

Craig was a City and Guilds time served carpenter and joiner; he served his apprentice­ship at Clifford Halsteads in Crawshawbo­oth. Working most of his life in the Rossendale Valley, he went on to own his own joinery business.

For many years, Craig had a great passion for keeping tropical fish and breeding caged birds such as love birds, cockatiels and finches.

Craig was a prominent member, for many years, of the Burnley Caged Bird Society. In his quieter moments he was an avid reader.

Craig leaves his wife Barbara, sons Duncan, Neal and the late Peter, daughters-in-law Carol and Melanie, and was grandad to Katy, Abigael and Dominic.

The funeral service and burial will take place on Friday, July 24, at Rawtenstal­l Cemetery at 12noon.

Family flowers only please, donations in lieu if so desired for the British Heart Foundation.

MALCOLM THIRDE

MR John ‘Malcolm’ Thirde, husband of the late Dilys Thirde, and formerly of Park Road, Waterfoot, passed away peacefully at Dove Court, Burnley on Sunday, July 19.

Malcolm enjoyed 27 years of being married to Dilys and fondly remembered many family holidays together with their two sons.

He will be sadly missed by his sons John and Neal, daughters-in-law, Kirstie and Danielle, and he was a proud grandfathe­r to Gretel, Dixie, Jack and Max.

Malcolm also leaves his brothers Phillip and Trevor and sisters-in-law Joan and Karen.

He was a lifelong Burnley supporter and a keen sportsman, playing cricket for Rossendale Grammar School Old

Boys and captaining both Waterbarn Cricket Club and Pendle Forest Cricket Club.

He also played golf at

Bacup Golf Club and Towneley Golf Club and was also a former member of the Goodshaw Golf Society.

Malcolm started work at JH Lord Accountant­s, moving to be Office Manager at Inghams Boxes and later as Company Secretary at JJ Ormerod.

He also had a spell running the family chip shop in Stackstead­s with Dilys, following the retirement of his father Jack and mother Ethel.

PETER CAINE

MR Peter Caine, of Sandfield Road, Bacup died suddenly at home on Sunday, July 19, aged 78.

A service will be held at the Chapel of Rest on Friday, July 24 at 1.30pm, followed by interment in Bacup cemetery at 2pm, conducted by Kathy Unsworth.

Born in Bacup, where he lived all of his life, he worked as an electricia­n for Frank Shaw in Bacup, moving to Robert Wood Sheet Metal and finally worked for Rossendale Borough Council’s street lighting department for 20 years prior to retiring.

Peter’s hobbies were buying cars to renovate and sell on.

He also enjoyed going to car boot sales with his late partner Pauline.

He leaves his brother Brian, niece Susan and her husband John, nephews Michael, Dominic and Brendon, cousin Marjorie and many friends.
