Century landmark for Pat

MRS Pat Fisher, Honorary President of Haslingden Ladies’ Lifeboat Guild, celebrated her 100th birthday on Saturday, August 15.

Pat has been a resident of Helmshore all her life and now lives at Danesmoor Care Home.

Good wishes came from Her Majesty the Queen, the RNLI and many, many friends.

Pat and her late husband Tom devoted much of their lives to good causes.

In 1972 they were Mayor and Mayoress of Haslingden and Pat joined the RNLI committee shortly afterwards. Pat was secretary for Haslingden & Helmshore County Primary Schools.

She was also a member of Haslingden Soroptomis­ts, Chairman of the Rossendale Trefoil Guild and secretary of Helmshore Annual Treat.

Haslingden Ladies’ Lifeboat Guild, Mrs Anita Collinge reported that Silver and Gold medals were awarded to Pat in 1999 and 2014 and she has been secretary and chairman twice during her 48 years on the committee.

Along with seven other members of the Haslingden Guild Pat will receive a long-service award at a ceremony, to be arranged, for their dedication and commitment to the cause.

Anita went on to say that Pat has had a very full life and it has been a pleasure to fundraise alongside her for many years.

She has been an inspiratio­n to us all on the committee and has been a wonderful ambassador for the RNLI.

We wish her well for a very happy birthday.
