DOREEN Smethurst, of Brandwood Park, Bacup, died peacefully at home with her daughter Claire at her side, on Sunday, September 6, aged 89.

She retired from Suttons in Bacup, and enjoyed watching sport, especially tennis, cricket and snooker.

Wife of the late Rowland, mother to Belinda and Claire, grandmothe­r to Abigail, Lewis and the late Daniel, and great-grandmothe­r to Yana and Tia.

A celebratio­n of life will be held on Tuesday, September 15, at 11.30am at Burnley Crematoriu­m, which will be led by Revd Steven Crook.

MR Craig Andrew Fisher died on Tuesday, September 1, aged 52.

He died peacefully at home in Old Langho near Whalley after a long battle against cancer.

Craig leaves behind his much loved wife Karen and sons Ryan and Jake.

He lived his early years in Gloucester and moved to Haslingden when he met Karen 30 years ago.

Craig was an insurance broker who eventually owned and developed his own brokerage And Insure.

He successful­ly sold his business 12 years ago and went on to develop a property portfolio.

In his youth he was a talented badminton player, and he carried on playing for many years.

He was a keen fan of all sports, Formula 1, tennis, rugby and football, especially Liverpool, among the favourites.

Craig did a great deal of charitable things for various groups including the homeless, and disabled children.

He will be sorely missed by all the family, which includes his parents Alan and Eileen Fisher, brothers Steve, Neil and Gareth and their families, in-laws Christine and

Bob, brothers-in-law Peter and Daniel and their families, and the wider family of uncles, aunts and cousins.

Much appreciati­on to the East Lancashire district nurses, Royal Blackburn Hospital and Aintree Hospital, Liverpool.

The service and cremation will take place at Burnley Crematoriu­m on Wednesday,

September 16, at 11.30am.
