BRENDA BRADY

-

MUCH loved wife and mother, Mrs Brenda Brady, passed away after a short illness on Tuesday, December 29, at the Royal Blackburn Hospital, aged 83.

She leaves her husband Eric, daughter Paula and son Michael.

Brenda was born in Bolton in 1937, a sister to five older brothers, Bob, Derek, Donald, Gordon and David.

It was whilst working at Dobson and Barlow in Bolton, subsequently Platt Brothers, she met and married her husband Eric.

Following the births of Paula and then Michael, she and her family moved to Rossendale in the late 1960s.

She was an active supporter of the local Mencap group, serving as treasurer for several years and partaking in many fundraising activities, including sales of work and also performing in concerts and shows.

Brenda worked for over 20 years in the office at Haslingden County Primary School, where she had many friends, before retiring in 1997.

She greatly enjoyed meeting up with other retired staff for theatre trips and dinners, and prior to Covid still regularly hosted book club meetings at home.

Over the years Brenda took many evening classes and had many hobbies including sewing, upholstery and flower arranging.

She also enjoyed reading, pottering in her garden, walking ( particularly around the local reservoirs), holidays and visiting National Trust properties.

She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and longstanding neighbours.

The funeral will take place on Wednesday, January 27 at 4pm at Burnley Crematorium.

Any donations in her memory can be made to Mencap.
