MR Tony Barnes, of Haslingden, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, January 5, aged 75.

Upon leaving school he learnt his trade as an electricia­n, working at local firms, moving on to become an industrial electricia­n for WH Goods, Haslingden.

In his younger days he was a keen boxer, representi­ng Haslingden Police.

Tony enjoyed playing golf at Green Haworth and Baxenden golf clubs, playing every morning in his retirement.

He leaves behind his partner of many years Christine, three brothers, two sisters and their partners, nieces and nephews, along with extended family and friends.

The funeral service and committal will take place on Monday, January 25, at 2.20pm at Accrington Crematoriu­m.

MR Geoffrey Baker, of Rawtenstal­l, passed away in the Royal Blackburn Hospital on Thursday, January 7, aged 82.

He served for 14 years in the RAF, meeting his beloved wife Rita in Manchester, and moving to Rawtenstal­l in 1971 where they raised their family.

A retired IT

Consultant for ICL, he enjoyed playing golf and watching football, especially Manchester United, of which he was a great supporter.

He leaves behind his wife Rita, children Gary and Janet, son- in- law Jack and daughter- inlaw Joanne, five grandchild­ren and one great- grandchild, all of which he adored.

He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

The funeral service & committal will take place on Tuesday, January 26, at 1.40pm at Accrington Crematoriu­m.
