Olympic physio shuts her clinic
AFTER 30 years of providing specialist treatment to patients, a physiotherapy clinic will sadly be closing its doors this month.
Sarah McGrail established the Rossendale Physiotherapy and Sports Injuries Clinic in 1989 and has provided private treatment and relief for thousands of patients over the years.
Sarah and her team moved to the current Bacup Road premises in Rawtenstall, in 2010 where she expanded her practice to include the treatment of neuromusculoskeletal conditions.
Sarah, a well-known member of the Valley business community, said the time has come to close the business.
She said: “I have recently relocated to Yorkshire and it is with sadness that I bid farewell to all my lovely patients and the friendly folk of Rossendale.
“I would like to thank each and every person who has supported me along my journey and all of the clients who have chosen Rossendale Physiotherapy.
The Rossendale Valley has been my home for three decades and I will remember my time here with fondness.”
Sarah qualified in 1984 and, after gaining experience in the NHS, she found that her own experiences in rowing drew her to the specialist interests of sports medicine.
Over the years she has maintained close links with sport, working at the highest level for over 17 years on the British Olympic Physiotherapy Committee.
Sarah’s skills have benefited countless people - from international athletes to Saturday park joggers, ballet dancers to painter and decorators - working with children right through to pensioners.
She was the Senior Governing Body Physiotherapist for the British Handball Association from 1991 to 2007, and has worked as an HQ Physiotherapist at both the Commonwealth Games and at the Youth Olympics. She is also a former physiotherapist for Rotherham Rugby Club and Great Harwood Hockey Club.
Sarah will close the doors today (Friday), and will concentrate on her new physiotherapy clinic in Thorner, near Leeds.
