Group brings homes into digital age Supporting our Rossendale community

-

THIS week we are looking at a new initiative led by the Bacup Now Community Group.

There haven’t been many positive outcomes from the COVID-19 pandemic, but one is the use of digital devices to communicate.

Laptops and tablets are being used regularly for a number of applications. Meetings, home schooling and more specifically personal communications.

The Bacup Now Community Group have launched an appeal for donations of new or pre-owned tablets or laptop for refurbishment and distribution to Bacup nursing homes initially, but if the appeal is successful, the distribution will extend to nursing homes throughout the valley.

The Bacup Now Community Group in collaboration with Rossendale Radio and The Rossendale Community Support Network, is looking to the Rossendale community for individuals and companies to sponsor a new device or donate a used device that will significantly benefit nursing home residents. All sponsors and donors will be given acknowledgement of their contribution if they wish.

We all want things to get back to normal, but for nursing homes, it is likely that their

residents will continue to be isolated from their families. Digital communication will be a fantastic alternative – providing regular opportunities for families to see, speak and further include residents in their lives, improve the feeling of belonging, well- being and provide an increased quality of life.

Can you help?

Did you get a new tablet or laptop for Christmas, or are you a business who has old devices you would like to donate or would like to sponsor a new tablet. If so, please get in touch at bacupnow@hotmail. com and we will email a donation form out for you to fill in and return, then we will arrange the pick up of your device.
