Mellor extends his stay with Borough

Talented winger pens contract keeping him at West View until the summer of 2022

- STEVE BROWN

BACUP Borough winger Alex Mellor committed his future to the club this week by signing an extension to his existing contract which will see him stay at West View until summer 2022.

The young winger featured in all of Borough’s fixtures up until lockdown and has consistently shown why the manager Brent Peters wanted his signature.

“Alex has been fantastic ever since he walked through the door, his attitude is top class and he’s always listening and hungry to learn,” said Peters. “Alex was one of those players that I was eager to get sorted before the summer and we’re delighted that he has committed to us.”

Over the past 12 months Mellor has grown in stature – a tricky winger with wonderful technical ability and energy to burn.

And with the experience that he’s gained over those 12 months it certainly looks like he will go on and have a bright future in the game.

After signing on the dotted line, Alex said: “I’m really pleased to be signing again.

“My decision to stay wasn’t in question, the club is moving in the right direction and I want to be a part of that.

“Brent and David Felgate have been brilliant since I came to the club. Every aspect of my performance has improved with their guidance and it feels right for me to continue with my progress here.”

The manager over the coming weeks will also be sitting down with several other key players to discuss their futures. “We have a good bunch of young talented players with us at the moment and it’s important that we protect them. David Felgate and myself have spent a lot of time with these lads and from what we’ve seen it’s been extremely positive, it’s massive for the club that we keep them together.”

Also in recent weeks the club has launched the Executive Club Investment Draw. For a one off £200 investment you will enter 4 quarterly draws. The winning company will have a professional promotional video created worth over £1000.

And businesses that subscribe will automatically become an official partner with the club and will be exposed on all of the clubs social media channels. (Including hyperlink on the clubs website with graphic)
