Runners take a new app-roach to club meetings

VALLEY runners have signed up to a new free app to support social meetups that abide by the government’s rule of six guidelines.

MotivMeet has announced the launch of its club area for running, triathlon and local group clubs, with the first club joining the platform being Rawtenstall-based Casked Runners.

The app helps runners meet other runners in their local area. Lockdown and Covid-19 has impacted not only runners themselves but also running clubs, triathlon clubs and local meetup groups due to the fact that meeting people hasn’t been possible.

MotivMeet say they also provide a wealth of additional features that mean the club can gain from acquiring new members, customise runs for different members, and also help with policy and documentation requirements.

Sean Towers, from Casked Runners, said: “Casked Runners are delighted to be partnering with MotivMeet to engage with our existing and new members as we start to come out of the Covid lockdown restrictions.

“The platform will allow us to communicate quickly and effectively around the group, whilst securely managing the data we need for Test and Trace.

“We wish MotivMeet all the success they deserve, and look forward to working with them to grow Casked Runners here in Rawtenstall in the coming months and years.”

The app ensures that everyone agrees to not only Covid-secure guidelines, but also social respect and safety guidelines to help ensure all runners have a friendly and enjoyable experience.

Andrew Hardman, from MotivMeet, said: “Being part of both running and triathlon clubs and seeing the impact it has made to my own personal wellbeing in the past, both mentally and physically, I am glad that MotivMeet can help clubs reopen safely and support members meeting up and gain from the huge benefits they bring to individuals and the local community.”
