● STILL no decision on controversial Helmshore homes bid (March 26):
Caroline Rigby: Would love to know how they plan to protect the deer and owls on this site. Natural England won’t have any clue about the beautiful wildlife there and the flood risk to Helmshore. So much of Rossendale green spaces being lost it’s a disgrace and doesn’t help us to fight climate change
Rose-Ann Sswallow: Building homes here makes zero sense. Aside from the flood risk, there are no schools within walking distance and very few public transport links, which means everyone will be driving everywhere. Traffic is already a joke in Rossendale
Alistair Roy: There are hundreds of empty properties in Rossendale but the profit margins in renovating and subsequently selling them on pales into insignificance compared to the huge amount of money the developers make from building these soulless boxes.
