PICTURES have emerged showing Peaky Blinders star

Cillian Murphy in action as he shoots for the popular crime series in the Valley.

Behind-the-scene shots show the Irish actor filming for the BBC gangland drama’s sixth season.

The community has been filled with excitement this week as film crews and TV trailers arrived in the town to start filming.

Murphy, who plays main character Tommy Shelby, was spotted on set at Lee Quarry, near Bacup and Stacksteads, on Tuesday, April 6.

The 44-year-old was wearing his iconic tweed suit, heavy wool dark coats, penny collar shirt and his famous peaked cap as he walked through the popular mountain bike trail.

The quarry has been totally transformed into a caravan site from the 1930s, with a range of props set up as the actors film the new series.

Cilian Murphy was seen driving up in his vintage car before confronting a group of townsfolk, while appearing to have a gun drawn in his right hand.

Earlier in the week, roads in the area were blocked off and signs signalling ‘no entry’ were installed as TV crews arrived.

A series of black tents were all erected in a row with a sign positioned outside reading “Caution: Work in progress. Vehicles towing”, and an array of props were set up at the scene, including carts, chairs and tables as well as artificial trees in what appears to be a ‘cemetery’.

Trailers also appeared in the area, which have signs detailing the names of characters, including Tommy Shelby, Arthur Shelby and Duke Shelby.

The popular British period drama series follows a gang and leader, Tommy Shelby, as they take part in criminal activities.

Other big names in the show include Paul Anderson, Helen McCrory and Sophie Rundle.
