MAVIS NUTTALL

-

SADLY Mavis Irene Nuttall, of Fernhill Crescent, Stacksteads died suddenly on Saturday, April 10 at Royal Blackburn, aged 81.

Mavis worked at John Maden’s Bacup, sewing hospital protective clothing and safety wear for most of her working life, but was employed as a dressmaker in a local haberdashery and material shop for a number of years during the 1980s.

Mavis had many hobbies including holidays abroad and in the UK, whilst also enjoying frequent breaks in the static caravan she owned with her husband Wilfred, which was on a site in Pilling for many years.

She was an excellent seamstress, a keen knitter, cross stitcher, and also made handmade cards. Mavis enjoyed painting, reading, gardening, and going on regular lunch dates with her friends.

Mavis was the beloved wife of Wilfred for 60 years, but sadly they were unable to celebrate their diamond wedding in November 2020 due to Covid restrictions.

Mavis also leaves her daughters Margaret and Lisa and late son John, sons-in-law Alan and Chris, grandchildren Robert, Mark, James and their partners Tedra, Kathryn and Carolyn, Rachael, Adam, Victoria and Matthew, greatgranddaughter Allegra, her sister Jean and late sister Geraldine.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the paramedics who attended at Mavis’s home and also to the A&E staff at Royal Blackburn Hospital. They all worked very hard, but sadly to no avail, and treated Mavis and her immediate family with the utmost care, kindness and respect. Thank you.

The funeral will take place on Friday, April 23; the Minister is David Livermore. Prayers to be said at Hamers Chapel of Rest at 10am, before travelling to Burnley crematorium for a service there at 10.45am.

Unfortunately due to the Covid restrictions, limited numbers will be allowed to attend at the funeral home and the crematorium.

Family flowers only please, but donations to Cancer Research UK in lieu of flowers gratefully accepted. Donations can be made online at www. fredhamer.co.uk

Funeral director: Dawn Winfield for Fred Hamer Funeral Services.
