Helping families to cope with life
THIS week, we are looking at the work of The Bacup Family Centre who have been successfully supporting families in many ways for over 20 years. They are based within the Bacup community and help individuals and families to cope with the challenges and difficulties life can bring.
Although the current restrictions have limited activities in the centre, they are still able to help.
Once these restrictions have been lifted and the centre’s normal activities resume, they can offer groups for adults and children in a safe environment where people meet and make new friends.
The centre’s main objective is to help people turn their lives around and increase the chances of having a loving and secure future with a sense of respect and worth.
They are achieving this in a number of ways. They help strengthen family relationships, support individuals in their development, help parents and carers understand and meet the needs of children and people in their care, offer professional and affordable activities developed in partnership with other agencies and service users, and offer a community focal point where individuals can meet and be actively involved with the decision making process and service delivery.
The Bacup Family Centre is a charity, and as such relies on donation support. From April they will be based on the top floor of the A B&D Centre on Burnley Road, Bacup, OL13 8AB.
