MARY REEDER

-

MRS Mary Reeder peacefully passed away during a hospital procedure at the Royal Blackburn Hospital on Wednesday, April 28, aged 80.

Mary was born in the small Stirlingshire village of Longcroft near Denny, and as a young girl she attended St Modans High School in Stirling. She worked in various mills before meeting her future husband.

She had two children before moving to England in 1972 and after a brief stay in Bury, spent the rest of her life in her adopted home of Edenfield. She brought up her two children and made many lifelong friends in the village as well as working in various shops, before ill health prevented her from this. Mary was a regular volunteer in her younger days for disabled charities but after ill health, continued her charity work and was a regular volunteer at the Hospital tea bar. She was part of the WI and Scottish country dancing where they performed in local fetes. Mary enjoyed her holidays to France and America to visit family and would regularly go back to

Scotland to visit her family and friends. Mary was well known for being so friendly, chatty and having a great sense of humour. She loved gardening, bird watching, and was an avid fan of TV detective shows and even watched reality TV to stay current and topical for her grandkids. Family meant everything to her and despite several health setbacks over the years it never stopped her from enjoying life to the full and seeing her grandchildren grow up, and recently greeting her first greatgrandchild. Her family will miss her greatly.

She leaves behind her son Mark and his wife

Nina, her daughter Karen and her husband Peter, her brothers Tom and George and sister Margaret, her grandchildren Leanne and Lewis, Sophie and Lucie and great-grandchild Isla Mai, and close friend June. She will be missed by many nieces, nephews, and cousins - not to mention her many friends.

Her funeral will take place on Monday, May 17 when a service will be held at Edenfield Parish Church led by Rev Andy Lindop at 11am followed by a short service at Burnley Crematorium at 12.15pm, and by a reception at the Haslingden Cricket Club.
