Colleagues step out in tribute to tragic mum

-

STAFF at a dental practice have walked 11.5 miles in memory of their former colleague, who died in a car accident last month.

Natalie Doherty, from Crawshawbooth, was killed in an horrific crash on the M66 motorway on May 8.

Her car hit floodwater and aquaplaned soon after she drove onto the motorway, sending her off the road before she crashed into a tree.

The 33-year-old, who worked at Bamford Dental Practice in Rochdale as a receptionist, leaves behind her six-year-old son Bobby.

Colleagues at the dental practice walked 11.5 miles from the practice to Kiln Clough Farm, close to Natalie’s home, on Sunday.

Dental nurse Robyn Reynolds, said the walk was also used to raise money for a trust fund for Natalie’s son Bobby. She said: “Natalie was only with us for seven months but it’s like she had always worked there. She just fit right in as soon as she arrived.

“We all spent a lot of time with her, we all worked very closely together.

“We wanted something that we could all do together as a practice and get involved with. The walk was something all abilities could get involved in.”

“What we raise is going to go into a trust fund for her son Bobby - so far we’ve raised over £3,000, we’re really pleased.”

Setting off at 10am, the walk took five hours to complete and Robyn said the group of 27 co-workers, including some dogs, used the time to remember their former colleague.

“We all had a good laugh on the walk and tried to just keep positive,” said Robyn.
