Ramblers keep busy on the trail of history

-

THE excellent June weather continues, with Rossendale Ramblers having had a very busy week.

On Wednesday, June 2 they ran two walks, a 9-mile more leisurely walk with five people in the lovely Whalley area, and an 11-mile walk with 16 ramblers from New Mills, taking in Lyme Park.

Then on Thursday, June 3, 22 ramblers enjoyed a scenic two-hour evening walk, ending with some social in the Duckworth Arms in Shuttleworth.

Finally, on Sunday 6 June, eight ramblers enjoyed a glorious 9-mile ‘walk on the Wyreside’, following the river Wyre from the charming village of Scorton through to Lower Dolphinholme, passing many small lakes en-route.

A particularly interesting feature was crossing the M6 near Forton Services, with its

Grade II-listed hexagonal tower.

Coming up, the Ramblers have three walks to offer.

On Sunday, June 13, you can join them for a varied 7.5-mile walk in Airedale, starting from Kildwick, then on Wednesday, June 16, they are in Yorkshire again, this time a 10-miler in a glorious area, starting from Heptonstall.

To complete the set they have another gentle two-hour evening walk on Thursday, June 17 in Accrington – more scenic than you might think!

These walks are free, but after three walks with us we ask you to join The Ramblers, at a cost of only £3.05 per month.
