Celebrating all that’s good about Valley
Supporting our Rossendale community
THIS week, we are looking at the Celebrate Rossendale event.
I’m sure we can all appreciates that due to the COVID pandemic, the Valley has gone through what is likely to have been the worst period for many years.
Sue Shuttleworth, former veterinary surgeon and passionate supporter of all things Rossendale, has a vision to organise a month-long series of events in September to Celebrate Rossendale, its past, present and vision for the future.
The theme for the month of September is simply ‘Celebrate Rossendale’.
The organisers are looking for businesses, schools, community groups and individuals to host an event or activity that celebrates something about Rossendale’s heritage, aspects of life in Rossendale today or perhaps a vision of what Rossendale might offer in the future.
Rossendale is known for its beauty, traditions, attractions and, above all, its community and the organisers want to use the Celebrate Rossendale event to bring our community back together, showcase what is distinctive about Rossendale and share this with visitors.
Rossendale community groups already stage a number of events and activities on a regular basis, and these events are seen as forming the core of Celebrate Rossendale, but it is important that these events are communicated to the organisers so that they can be included in the programme.
These could include photographic exhibitions depicting Rossendale’s heritage and beauty, walking trails, activities for children, architectural tours, music or dance performances showcasing local talent and theatre performances.
It’s also a great opportunity for sport and leisure organisations to attract new clients and for community groups to raise much needed funds.
