Mallinson and mates raring to go
THIS weekend the Bacup Borough squad begin training in preparation for the 2021/22 North West Counties Football League season.
And with the team getting off to a fantastic start last time out they’ll be hoping that they can start this campaign in similar fashion.
Over the past few months the squad have continued to keep themselves in good condition with regular individual training sessions through the technology of Strava, software that can be monitored remotely by the manager Brent Peters and Head Coach, David Felgate.
And after the premature end to last season through Covid all the staff and players are excited and raring to go.
Borough defender Ross Mallinson said: “All of the lads are fighting fit and ready to go again.
“The past twelve months have been extremely frustrating for everybody, and with the excellent start that we had last season it was even more of a disappointment that the season was curtailed because I genuinely believe that we would’ve been competing near the top for honours.
“Brent and Dave have been brilliant. We set up a Whatsapp group early last year and ever since it’s become our go to place for communication between the lads and management.
“We’ve also been setting out our training schedule through the use of Strava which allowed David to monitor our individual progress.
“In regards to the new season I think if we can get off to a good start again then confidence in the camp will be high.
We are a young side with some excellent players, and along with the more experienced heads around to give guidance and insight we have a real opportunity to be successful.”
Pre-season friendlies are currently being arranged for late June, early July, with the season due to kick off at the end of July.
