Rams ease to T20 derby triumph

RAMSBOTTOM enjoyed a comfortabl­e success against local rivals Rawtenstal­l in Friday’s T20 match.

Batting first the Rams posted a par score of 132-2 from their allotted overs with profession­al Daryn Smit top scoring with 58 not out ably supported by Jacob Clarke (21), Brad Fielding (17) and Ben Parkinson (31 not out).

Pick of the Rawtenstal­l bowling was Imran Abid who took 2 for 16 off his 4 overs.

Any hope Rawtenstal­l had lay in the arms of the their pro Jeewantha (who had smashed Greenmount the previous week) but when Jacob Clarke cleaned him up for 6 they were never in the hunt and were eventually bowled out for 67.

Excellent bowling performanc­es from Jacob Clarke who took 4 for 10, Dan Pyke with a miserly 2 for 3 off 4 overs and Daryn Smit 2 for 6 provided the highlights of the

Elsewhere, Bacup were beaten by 27 runs in their clash against group leaders

Crompton. Profession­al Imran Khalid smashed 81 from 44 balls while Denis Louis hit a half century as Crompton registered 190-7.

Best with the ball for Bacup were Ben Lord with 2-29 and Jake Sunderland, 2-37.

In reply, Bacup pro Sachithra Serasinghe bettered Khalid’s effort, hitting 87 from 37 balls, but Harry Dean took 4-33 and Khalid 2-25 to dismiss Bacup for 163-9.

Haslingden also suffered defeat in their clash against Norden, losing out by 81 runs after being dismissed for 78 with Sean Hunsley’s knock of 13 their best on the day.

Usama Malik picked up 3-9 and Greg Butterwort­h took 3-18 to help Norden.

Earlier, Norden had set a target of 160 for victory after profession­al Ashar Zaidi hit 68 in his side’s 159-6.

Sub profession­al Arron Lilley took 3-11 and Joe Hayton 2-28 for Haslingden.
