Winning return to ring for Aaron
ROSSENDALE professional boxer Aaron Hayden returned to the ring in winning fashion at the weekend
With a place on the bill at an outdoor venue in Sheffield, Hayden was up against a seasoned professional in Jamie Quinn of Manchester.
Having not boxed since November 2019 due to Covid 19 restrictions, Hayden enjoyed been back in action in what was his first televised fight.
“It’s great to back, I’ve have been itching to get back in the ring for ages now. It seemed an age since I last boxed but to fight in an outdoor show live on television is surreal. To have had such a long time out the ring, especially in a pandemic, has been hard but my sponsors have kept me going and my trainer Alex Matvienko at Elite Boxing
Academy has kept me focused and I have actually learnt a lot more having more time with Alex.
“He’s improved me immensely. My opponent was a really good learning fight, he’s been in with some of the best even fighting Stephen Smith who was world champion. So he’s mixed it with a lot but I was confident.
“Alex has got me the best sparring and I’m in the best shape I’ve been in and am happy to move to 4-0 and remain undefeated – roll on the next one!
“I would like to take time out to thank all my sponsors who have been so supportive and it felt like half of Rossendale was there with the noise my fans made, so I’m very appreciative to everyone who bought a ticket.”
Hayden will soon have another date lined up as his management team of
Kevin Maree and Pádraig Coakley want him as busy as possible.
Trainer Matvienko said: “Aaron is a really good kid, he spars some of the best lads in the country but we must remember he’s 4-0.
“As a team we will build him nicely but I know that Aaron can go a long way. We have been working on a lot of new techniques and Aaron is a quick learner.
“I’m proud of him, it’s been hard to keep lads focused in the pandemic but Aaron has done everything asked of him so I can’t be happier.”
Hayden is currently the only professional boxer out of the valley and he’s putting Rossendale on the map with his boxing skills.
