ROSSENDALE RAMBLERS

-

IN the recent glorious weather we have had some fabulous walks, two of them on Wednesday, June 9.

The more local one saw eight walkers enjoying a more leisurely 8 mile ‘stop and stare’ agricultural walk from Gisburn, with a highlight being the lovely village of Bracewell, containing ‘King Henry’s Parlour’ – a barn where Henry VI supposedly rested after the battle of Hexham in 1464.

The other was an 11-mile walk for 19 ramblers in Brontë country, including picturesque Haworth and the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway.

Finally, on Sunday, June 13, 12 walkers roasted on a gentler walk of nearly 8 miles from the well kept village of Kildwick, Airedale.

This walk included High and Low Bradley, plus the Polish Airmen Memorial and the Jubilee Monument.

Coming up, we have two rather more far-flung walks.

On Sunday, June 20, you can join us for a nine-mile walk from the beautifullysituated Elterwater in the Lake District, with waterfalls, quarries and caves in abundance.

Then on Wednesday, June 23, we have what promises to be an extremely varied and scenic 11 mile walk from Digley Reservoir in the Peak District.

These walks are free, but after three walks with us we ask you to join The Ramblers, at a cost of only £3.05 per month.
