Teenager is arrested after drugs find

-

A TEENAGER has been arrested after police found a ‘large bag’ of drugs close to where a car was abandoned.

Officers from Lancashire Police were called out to reports of a Honda Accord on cloned plates being driven through the area on Monday evening (June 14).

Police tracked down the vehicle at around 6pm and managed to get the Honda to stop at Tup Bridge, Rawtenstall.

But as the car was stopped, its occupants abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene.

Officers were able to track down one man who had been in the vehicle – an 18-year-old from Manchester – while they also found a bag containing controlled drugs nearby.

The man was arrested and is in custody while police continue enquiries.

In a post on Facebook, Rossendale Police said: “We were made aware yesterday evening of a vehicle on cloned plates entering Rossendale and if you saw the incident unfold at Tup Bridge yesterday at about 6pm this was us finding and stopping the vehicle at which point the occupants abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene.

“An immediate search of the area located one male who was arrested after a large bag of controlled drugs was located nearby.

“The male is 18 years old and from the Manchester area and remains in custody whilst our enquiries continue.”

Information about the incident can be passed on to Lancashire Police by calling the force on 101, or by using the online reporting service.
