New leaders take over at table summit

Rochdale enjoyed a four-wicket win on the road at Darwen as in-form profession­al Sean Whitehead claimed 5-8 from 8.5 overs and Steve Oddy picked up 4-26 to bowl Darwen out the home side for just 68.

Rochdale opener James Maurice-Scott with an unbeaten 40 saw Rochdale comfortabl­y home in the 23rd over.

An innings of 82 not out from Paddy Martin underpinne­d Lowerhouse’s 206 run win against Colne at The Brooks Foundation Ground.

Clitheroe won by four wickets win at Middleton, where Ali Ross (4-21) and Mohsin took (4-59) limited the home side to a total of 161.

Clitheroe stuttered at times in chasing down the target but pro Mohammad Mohsin’s 39 runs and an unbeaten seventh wicket pairing of Charlie Dewhurst (17no) and Kyle O’Connor (33no) saw the visitors home.

At Blackburn Road, Rishton were beaten as Darwen rans out winners by 24 runs.

Darwen won the toss and elected to bat, a decision which ultimately proved pivotal as opening pair Mark Friend (62 from 60 balls) and Kamran Anwar (58 from 31 balls) put on 102 before Anwar fell.

Siddesh Lad also hit 35 as Darwen posted 190-4.

Rishton’s reply started promisingl­y enough with Sajid

Patel (51) and Richie Fox (30) put on 83 for the first wicket while profession­al Sachithra Perera hit 42 but the run rate proved beyond them as they closed on 166-6.

Middleton picked up a 27-run win at Rawtenstal­l.

George Walker took 3-34, profession­al James Price 2-18 and skipper Dale Highton 2-24 with Cameron Holder hitting 35,

Ishaq Hussain 24 and Rizwan Shafiq 19 in Rawtenstal­l’s 118 all out.

Richard Fitton hit 40, Grant Jones 25, Walker 24 and Rhys Tierney 19 in Middleton’s 145-8. Imran Abid picked up 3-29 for Rawtenstal­l.
