MOLLY TOMLINSON

MRS Molly Tomlinson, of Deerplay Care Home, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 12, aged 90.

Molly was born in Crawshawbooth, to parents William and Mary Fearnley, and lived in the Rossendale valley all her life. Molly survived her younger sister Dorothy who died in 2002.

Molly leaves her daughter Helen and husband Tony, son Christopher and wife Joanne, son Andrew and Samantha, and late son David and Janet.

She leaves grandchildren Adam and partner Amy, Ben and wife Cathryn, Mathew and partner Danielle, Martin, Melissa and partner Jay, Bob and partner

Shannon, Chloe, Joe, Sam and Harry, all of whom she was very proud of.

Molly loved to spend time with her eight great-grandchildren

Taylen, Harlow, Charlie, Esme, Amelie, Molly, Sebastian and Freddie, all of whom adored her.

Molly attended local primary and secondary schools and went on to attend secretarial college.

She spent most of her working life as the School Secretary at St Mary’s School in Rawtenstall.

She was a member of the ‘Save The Children’ charity and often worked in the charity shop at weekends. In her youth she performed as a dancer and actress at many local venues.

In later life, when her children left the nest, she took up dancing again and was an avid line dancer.

Molly was a caring, kind and fun-loving lady who lived for her family. She would organise family functions attended by her children, along with their significant others, plus grandparents and great aunts and uncles.

She prepared either buffets, barbecues or sometimes her legendary ‘Desperate Dan Cow Pie’.

Molly relished in feeding her family and being ‘The Hostess with the Mostest’.

Molly loved crossword puzzles and quizzes, which she introduced to these family gatherings.

In 2019, due to failing health, she moved into Deerplay Rest Home in Bacup where she received excellent care, for which the family are truly grateful.

The celebration of her life will take place at 11.30am on Friday, July 30 at Burnley Crematorium, with Kathy Unsworth officiating as the celebrant.
