Rams reveal new team in dugout

RAMSBOTTOM United have confirmed Lee Donafee’s backroom staff for the upcoming 2021/22 season.

Donafee has appointed Martin Parker as his assistant manager.

The 36-year-old is stepping into management for the first time following an illustriou­s playing career at the likes of Radcliffe FC, FC United of Manchester and Glossop North End.

It’s not the first time Parker has been at the club, he joined for a brief period during the FA Trophy run of 2018/19 and then again at the start of the 2019/20 season where he made his only appearance in a Rams shirt away at Pontefract.

Parker said: “I’m delighted to be offered the opportunit­y to come in. I’ve known Lee a long time and it was an opportunit­y that I couldn’t turn down.”

Parker has also signed playing papers ahead of the new season but will concentrat­e on being on the sidelines and will be used as cover if needed on the pitch.

Michael Smith has also joined the backroom staff as first-team coach.

The 34-year-old coached Warrington Rylands to FA Vase glory last season and has also had previous spells at Ashton Town and Warrington Town Reserves.

On the appointmen­ts,

Donafee said: “I’m delighted to have them both on board, the qualities that these two lads have is hard to find good loyal honest lads who want wants best for the club.”

Lincoln Adams and Warren Nolan remain in their roles of first-team coach and technical director respective­ly.

Alex Brown has also joined the club as physio following the departure of Sophie Lomax.
