Christmas is coming and Valley is ready to party
THIS week, we are looking at Christmas in Rossendale.
After almost two years of Covid restrictions the
Valley is at last able to stage events again. There are a number of groups and organisations who are looking at staging Christmas events as a way to bring our community together and revive its famous community spirit.
Bacup’s Big Christmas Bash is just one example of the many events being organised with these objectives at its heart. Organised by the Bacup Now Community Group and supported by businesses and Rossendale Borough Council.
Bacup’s Big Christmas Bash will be held at
Trinity Baptist Church on Sunday, December 12, and will feature all of the traditional elements that we all associate with Christmas, including brass band music provided by the Water Village band, Christmas carols sung by the Veterans In Communities choir, and songs played by the Rossendale Ukulele band. There will also be performances from the Dansworks Dance Academy and the Britannia Coconutters.
The Grinch will be making an appearance and Santa will be in his Grotto looking to receive letters to Santa from local children.
The event is free to all and also provides opportunities for other local groups and not-forprofit organisations to showcase their activities.
The organisers are also working in collaboration with the Friends of Bacup Market to continue the ever popular Christmas market. Rossendale Radio will be broadcasting live from this event and others over the Christmas period promoting Rossendale as uniquely placed to offer a massive range seasonal events, attractions and activities in its many towns and villages over the Christmas period to rival the bigger cities, while maintaining the traditional and spirit of Christmas.
Details of the many events being staged in Rossendale can be found through the Christmas In Rossendale Facebook page.
