We use this branch personally and for our business but with it only open at 9.30 till 3.30 and closed on a Thursday and not even open Saturday morning any more it really makes it hard work,

Kath Slaughter: I think they mean there are just 63 customers registered at the branch. I’ve used a branchless bank for over 30 years, not missed queuing at all

Stacey Flynn: Every time I’ve been into this branch there’s been a long queue. But would probably have more customers if it was open at weekends and after office working hours.

Joseph Dempsey: In this digital world of online banking we don’t need brick and mortar banks anymore. It’s a shame but it’s a sign of the times.

Philip Amatt: Covid has caused this. I’ve got £100 in my wallet. It’s been there a long time. If I pull a note out, the Queen blinks in the bright light. I’ve so rarely used money to pay for things during the last two years.

Jo Billington: Terrible decision. We should offer options for banking to all sections of our community. Those who don’t have Internet, mobile and online banking. Or heaven forbid, actually like to go and speak face to face with someone!

Sharon Simcock: Not good news. There will be no banks left soon on the street that is called Bank Street. They all keep asking if you got the mobile app. I guess it will be another takeaway, bar, hairdresse­rs or restaurant.

Neil McCall: I’m a charity treasurer and we have a Barclays account. They closed the local branch and made the next town branch all-automatic which means chaos when you’re trying to pay in multiple cheques. So I transferre­d the main banking to a building society which is actually increasing branches, is open reasonable hours and offers proper counter service. (And I used to work for Lloyds which isn’t much better).

Lia Holmes: Closing banks on Bank Street, you couldn’t make it up. I’m one of those 63 people, it’s never open and if you catch the time window there’s queues. Move towards cashless society and social credit scoring, bad news

David Camm: Online banking sucks - people need local banks. Not all drive. And the elderly will suffer having to travel out of town.

Tony Winder: Covid-19 has also played a part in banks closing. The number of payments in the UK made using notes and coins slumped by just over a third in 2020 as a lot of shops closed during lockdown, online shopping boomed and we became wary of the risk of transmitti­ng the virus by handling cash when we did shop in person. An increase in the contactles­s payment limit from £30 to £45 in April 2020, and the more recent increase to £100 in October 2021, has further fuelled this trend. But even before the first lockdown, consumer spending habits were changing.

Rikky Gallacher: What about all the OAPs in the area that don’t use online banking and can’t drive to Burnley the nearest branch! My gran being one of these people that don’t do either!

●●WE flew from Manchester Airport, and there wasn’t a queue in

sight (April 8):

Candice Harwood: Yeah we flew in today with no queues at all! However my mother in law was left waiting for nearly two hours for special assistance off the aeroplane.

Mark Mills: Same was us yesterday flying Manchester Airport T1 going through security only took us 10 minutes. Down side we arrived very early to the airport

Nathan McLean: I flew out last Friday - from dropping my car at Meet & Greet parking to clearing security, it took 50 minutes, despite the queues. This left us with plenty of time to relax in the lounge prior to boarding. When we flew in on Thursday, by the time we had go off the plane and cleared immigratio­n (no queues here!), our suitcases were already doing laps on the luggage carousel!

We were either very lucky, or people are overreacti­ng to having to queue.

Alexandra Pye: We flew from t2 - through bag drop and security within 50 mins!

Gemma Walton New: We flew Thursday everything was fine apart from the gates. It was not very organised and we had to wait over an hour later than our flight time to board the plane.

out of terminal 1 on Wednesday could not fault security, only ten minutes, great staff.

Ian Hanlon: Took 2 1/2 hrs last week.

Michelle Lewin: We’ve flown many times and never had to queue along as we did on 28th March. Only 2 staff on Tui check in desk. Took 90mins to

check in and then 90 mins to get through security. We had everything printed off and liquids in bags ready for security. Thankfully, our plane was delayed as we would have missed our flight. Even the pilot came out to apologise for the delay which was good communicat­ion.
