Borough build for future with Honor recruitment role
BACUP Borough North West Counties Division One campaign may have finished several weeks ago but they have wasted no time in planning for next season and the long term future with Chris Honor appointed the club’s new Head of Recruitment.
Honor comes to the club with a vast array of experience. Before becoming a Coach, Chris spent eight years in the Armed Forces as a Combat Medic and was deployed to Iraq in 2006, where he was part of the Accident and Emergency team. He also spent time in Cyprus where he worked within the medical centre and ambulance response team.
After leaving the Military, Honor trained as a personal trainer. As a coach, he has helped members of the public undergo body transformations and prepare for events such as 10km runs and has also supported the development of athletes in football, rugby, lacrosse and other sports.
He has also spent extensive time studying Strength and Conditioning and is currently undergoing a diploma in Biomechanics.
In his role as Bacup’s Head of Recruitment, Honor will be working closely with the existing management teams of the U21s and U23s as well as constant dialog with Borough manager Brent Peters and Head of Youth, Darren Reece.
It’s a positive move forward for the football club who are serious about advancing the infrastructure of the club and attaining success.
“It’s really important for the club that we continue to plan for the future and the appointment of Chris shows that we are totally committed to driving the club forward and building for the future,” said Peters.
“It’s going to be a massive challenge for everybody concerned but I would like to see Bacup Borough FC represented at all levels from young juniors right through to the first team, including the introduction of women’s football which is growing fast.
“Chris was a standout candidate during the interview process. His military background coupled with his sporting experience and attention to detail swayed it in the end. We also needed somebody who can communicate clearly and effectively with the other departments.
“When you look at the professional structure of a football club and development of players you can see a clear line of unity. It’s a oneness, and that is exactly what we want at Bacup Borough FC and I believe Chris will give us that.”
●●THERE was more good news for Borough this week with forward Lewis Byrne extending his contract at the club until at least 2024. Since joining from Manchester League side Avenue FC, Byrne has impressed. He has spent several occasions on the sidelines due to injury but when fit has shown exceptional skill and potential.
