ACHARITY fashion show at Bacup Cricket Club held in aid of Rossendale Hospice was a huge success.

The event – the second of its kind organised by club stewardess Christine Brighty raised £1,300 in total – with attendees paying £5 admission, and all proceeds to the hospice.

The outfits were supplied by Bows Boutique, from Crawshawbooth, courtesy of owner Trish and compère Michelle.

Christine also said a big thank you to all the “many” businesses that donated a raffle prize, as well as the models who gave up their time – Wendy, Joanne, Hayley, Kirsty, Abby, Rachel, Bev and Linzi.

She told the Free Press she was a bit concerned by lack of ticket sales before the night, but as soon as they opened the doors there were people coming in.

“There was well over 80,” she said. “It was really good. It was brilliant how the local businesses had given me raffle prizes.

“I bet I had 90.

“The lady who did the clothes also gave me a percentage of what she sold.

“Everyone commented that they enjoyed themselves and we had a lot of older people in.”

A catwalk was put together for the evening event thanks to Patrick Wilkinson, of JJO, Mick Greenwood, of Fielden

Factors, Craig Ovenden and JB Carpets.

Christine added that Rossendale Hospice is her go to chosen charity as she has plenty of family

members who it has helped.

“I did another fashion show a couple of years before Covid,” she said.

“It gets people

together, and it’s just thanks to everyone really. Even the catwalk was ace. I will definitely do another one.”

The Lanehead Lane

club will host its first T20 match of the season this Friday against Todmorden, and the night will also feature singer Miszy from 9pm.
