A MUCH-LOVED brother, Mr Thomas McMullen of Pennine Road, Bacup, died suddenly at home on Wednesday, June 22, aged 74 years.

Despite having suffered ill health for the last few years his death was unexpected and is a great loss to his family.

A service will be held at St Mary’s RC Church, Bacup, at 11.30am on Thursday, July 14, conducted by Father Chris McGrane, followed by interment in Bacup cemetery.

Thomas was born in Bacup where he lived for most of his life. He moved to London in the 1980s and worked in the hospitalit­y trade managing clubs and as bar staff in and around the city. During this time, he also was employed by CitiBank. However, his working life began at Temperley’s Pipe Works and when he eventually moved back to Bacup he returned to working within the constructi­on industry and was employed on many different ●●Thomas McMullen sites throughout the area before finally retiring from NEL Constructi­on.

Thomas will be remembered as one of life’s characters, he enjoyed many holidays abroad with friends and socialisin­g.

He was an avid reader and liked to watch TV especially quiz shows and also enjoyed searching Bacup Past &

Present online. Mainly he was happiest when surrounded by his loving family at family celebratio­ns and get-togethers.

Father to the late Sarah-Jane, he leaves his brother James and sisters Mary, Elizabeth, Eileen and Bernadette, sister-in-law Glenys, brothersin-law Victor, Mick, Peter and Terry, nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends.

Family flowers only, donations in lieu to the British Heart Foundation via the funeral director. Funeral Director: Anthony Johnson Funeral Services Ltd, Bacup.
