Ali century tees up win for Enfield

IN Division 2, Enfield entertaine­d Rawtenstal­l and enjoyed a 14-run win.

The home side won the toss and chose to bat, Yasir Ali the star of the show with an unbeaten knock of 104 from 104 balls. He was ably assisted by Pramod Maduwantha (51) and Liam Jackson (24) as Enfield closed on 212-4.

Though D Aziz (66) and Abbaas Ahmad (44) got among the runs for Rawtenstal­l, they fell short of the revised target of 213, ending up 198 all out.

Bacup travelled to Rishton and were beaten by 44 runs.

Rishton won the toss and opted to bat, making 195-5 with opening batsman Richard Fox topscoring with 64 and Akbar Ur Rehman contributi­ng 48.

Simon Newbitt underpinne­d Bacup’s reply with an innings of 67, but only Steven Ball (26) provided any kind of support as the visitors were dismissed for 151 in the 36th over.

Littleboro­ugh climbed to the top of the table as they won by three wickets on the road at Colne.

Havng won the toss and asked the home side to bat first, Littleboro­uigh restricted Colne to 186-6 off 39 overs. Geeth Kumara hit an unbeaten 89 while Kenton Rhodes struck 36.

Matthew Hernon top-scored with 40 for Littleboro­ugh, but more of their batsmen got into double-figure scores and victory was secured after 40 overs.

Church & Oswaldtwis­tle CC moved up to second after cakewalkin­g to the most comfortabl­e of victories when they entertaine­d neighbours Accrington at the weekend, easing to a 10-wicket win.

The visitors won the toss and opted to bat first, Ben Gorton top-scoring with 22 as they crumbled to 85 all out inside 37 overs. Andrew Bentley (3-33) and Sagar Vijay Trivedi (3-35) both claimed three wickets apiece.

In reply, Church openers Craig Fergusson (37) and Joshua Scully (39) did the business inside 20 overs.

Great Harwood sprung the surprise of the weekend as they travelled to leaders Crompton and won by 113 runs.

The home side had won the toss and elected to field. Great Harwood made the most of the Glebe Street wicket, scoring 230 all out with Caleb Greenhalgh 72, Matt Oddie 60 and Reece Willets 32.

In reply, only Harry Dean (27) and Hassan Fazal (45) had any success as they were all out for 117 in the 40th over. For Great Harwood, Kasim Masood took 4-33 and Stuart Maher 3-15.

Nelson travelled to East Lancs and won by 14 runs.
